Client

Motorcyclists looking for curvy routes and people who want to run their own instance - no accounts, no telemetry.

Problem

Existing tools solve only half the problem: some plan curvy routes well but are closed, others have excellent offline support where motorcycle-oriented planning is an afterthought. There was no planner combining both that also works without coverage.

Scope of work

Offline routing engine, motorcycle-oriented route profiles, loop generator, navigation with Polish TTS, group riding, an OpenStreetMap data pipeline, and a self-hosting stack.

Solution

A Flutter app built on a pure domain package with zero production dependencies. Offline routing runs on Valhalla compiled natively and called through dart:ffi in a separate isolate; online routing uses GraphHopper in flexible mode with custom cost models. Maps are PMTiles read directly, with no tile server. The road curviness index and geocoder are built into SQLite from the same OSM extract. Group riding works over MQTT with QR-code joining, no accounts and no stored positions. An optional LLM layer allows planning in natural language, but the model never generates geometry - coordinates come solely from OSM and the geocoder.

Key features

  • Routing without coverage (Valhalla via dart:ffi)
  • Curvy-road and gravel profiles
  • Loop generator from a starting point
  • Polish voice navigation
  • Group riding over MQTT with QR-code joining
  • GPX import, route library, and track recording

Business outcome

Phases 0-6 closed: routing works without coverage, along with group riding, a route library, GPX import, and track recording. Roughly 50k lines of code, CI with a smoke test on real OpenStreetMap data. Open source, ahead of its first ride in the field.
